LAZDAO HOSPITALITY & WELLNESS: DISRUPTING THE TOURISM AND MEDICAL SPACE FOR THE BETTER

Tourism contributes to more than 5 percent of global greenhouse gas emissions, with transportation accounting for 90 percent of this. By 2030, a 25% increase in CO2-emissions from tourism compared to 2016 is expected. From 1,597 million tons to 1,998 million tons.

The negative environmental impacts of tourism are substantial. They include the depletion of local natural resources as well as pollution and waste problems. Tourism often puts pressure on natural resources through over-consumption, often in places where resources are already scarce. Following the COVID-19 pandemic, travel has begun to regain pace, making it crucial to accelerate the implementation of sustainibility components to the industry.

  • Air and car travel: Working with airport groups and airlines to seek to decarbonize their processes and optimize their resource use. The same applies to car travelers, as we seek to increase the availability of electric charging stations in developing nations in order to increase the speed of the transition process.
  • Hotels and vacation infrastructure: As we have identified in the industrial sector, construction places a heavy burden on the emissions generated in any industry. Furthermore, resource utilization including water and energy are a crucial topic for discussion. We work closely with other developers and operators since the concept stage of a new project to reduce its environmental impact.
  • Medical services: Medical tourism remains on the rise in connection with sharp increases in the cost of medical treatments and the increased availability of state-of-the-art services in new markets, like Mexico. We want to make sure that healthcare is accessible to all, those traveling for their procedures and the people from the communities welcoming them.
The tourism industry, from transportation to hotel infrastructure is ripe for disruption. Furthermore, we have the chance to make medical treatments more accesible; not only for medical tourists, but also to the communities hosting them.

Returns and impact are not at odds; by developing and executing the right strategy, both can be accomplihed
